A cute knitted draught excluder is helping Scottish residents save energy as part of a government campaign.
Home Energy Scotland, part of the Greener Scotland initiative set up by the Scottish government, is promoting energy saving in the home, with help from a very special team member – Doug, a knitted caterpillar draught excluder.
Doug has proved a huge hit with residents and with his bright colour scheme and rather fine moustache, it’s easy to see why. He has been so popular, there is even a knitting pattern for him! Designed by Helen Javes, the pattern is well suited to beginners as it is worked in regular and reverse stocking stitch and uses simple shaping. By knitting your own caterpillar draught excluder, you can help make your home more energy efficient.
Home Energy Scotland offers clear and impartial advice on how you can cut down your bills and make your house warmer. There is also the chance of financial support to help make improvements to your home.
