Everything You Need to Know About Game of Wool – Episodes, Judges and More

Game of Wool: Britain’s Best Knitter is Channel 4’s brand-new competitive knitting series, where 10 talented amateur knitters go head-to-head in a series of dazzling solo and team challenges. Hosted by Olympic gold medallist and knitting enthusiast Tom Daley, Game of Wool celebrates creativity, colour, and craftsmanship – all spun from one beautiful material: wool.

Each week, contestants will cast on bold new projects – from stylish clothing and jewellery to home accessories and even furniture – while being judged by two industry icons, Di Gilpin and Sheila Greenwell, who’ve knitted for Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, and Nike.

Game of Wool: Britain’s Best Knitter premieres Sunday 2 November 2025 at 8pm on Channel 4.

What Is Game of Wool About?

Game of Wool brings together the UK’s most creative knitters to compete in challenges that test skill, imagination, and yarn control! Each episode features both individual ‘Quick Knit’ challenges and large-scale team projects, with plenty of laughs, dropped stitches, and moments of pure magic along the way. If you love shows like The Great British Sewing Bee, The Great Pottery Throw Down or The Great British Bake Off – you’ll feel right at home with Game of Wool.

Where Can I Watch Game of Wool?

You can watch Game of Wool every Sunday at 8pm on Channel 4, or stream on Channel 4 Streaming (formerly All 4) straight after broadcast.

Can I Watch Game of Wool Outside the UK?

Who Are the Game of Wool Judges?

Two legendary knitters are taking their seats at the judging table:

  • Di Gilpin – An acclaimed Scottish designer known for innovative knitwear and sustainable wool artistry.
  • Sheila Greenwell – A master craftswoman with decades of experience in hand knitting for major fashion houses.
    • Together, they’ll be keeping an eagle eye on tension, technique, and creativity. Expect plenty of praise – and maybe a few unravellings!

Who Will be Presenting Game of Wool?

Game of Wool marks Tom Daley’s first major presenting role, and he’s bringing his infectious enthusiasm (and knitting expertise) to every episode. Take a look at our exclusive Tom Daley knitting projects: choose from a statement stripe scarf, classic cable jumper and a pom-pom hat for your dog.

What have the contestants been making so far?

      Episode one

      • Fair Isle tank tops: Each contestant knitted a tank top (sleeveless top) using a Fair Isle-inspired design that reflected something personal about themselves.
        • Knitted sofa covers: For the team challenge, they made full-sized knitted covers for sofas, using chunky yarn, in different design styles: one team made a gradient / ombré + cable-knit design; the other tried a bold intarsia beach / holiday scene.
          • Episode two

            • Dog outfits: Each contestant made a two-piece outfit for a dog (Italian greyhound) — a body garment plus a headpiece / accessory.
              • Mohair sweaters: The contestants were split into 3 teams to make 80s-inspired mohair jumpers.

              Episode three

              • Knit and Crochet for Swimwear: For the solo challenge, contestants had to make glamorous swimwear in just 12 hours.
                • Furniture design: For the team challenge, the contestants switched gear and had to crochet a full-sized deck chair sling.

                Episode four

                • Fancy Dress Costumes: Each contestant produced a full costume for children – not just a knitted accessory, but a proper outfit.
                  • Interactive Wall Hangings: Teams produced large wall hangings that are playful / interactive, not just static art.

                  Episode five

                  • Ultra‑realistic amigurumi food: Contestants make soft toy food that looks as if you could eat it.
                    • Textured slouchy cardigan: In teams, the contestants knit a cardigan that emphasises texture and a relaxed, slouchy silhouette.
