Us creative types have two great loves in this world: crafting and Christmas. When they collide we’re positively giddy, so as you can imagine Christmas Jumper Day – organised by the wonderful people at Save the Children – is our favourite event! This year it falls on Thursday 11th December 2025. Alison Hammond is just one of the famous faces supporting this year’s campaign, which is once again backed by Head of Wool, Shaun the Sheep.
What is Christmas Jumper Day?
Every year, on a Friday in the middle of December, people join together in festive knitwear, whether crazy or classy, plain or interactive, and make a donation. Born in 2012 from a mere bit of trend spotting, Christmas Jumper Day has become one of Save the Children’s biggest successes, raising a whopping £40 million over the last 12 years. Annually sourcing out your best, ugliest, most fantastic Christmas jumpers is a ritual we’ve all come to follow. But fun aside, what’s more important is the excellent cause that propels participants on every year to get involved. The organisation’s plight to better the lives of children worldwide through contributions such as safe aid, providing clean water or vaccinations is what makes this brilliant day all the more worthwhile.
