What you need to know

Val Pierce's soft, easy-knit teddy bear would make a wonderful gift

Knitted in a super soft yarn, this knitted panda bear toy is exceedingly huggable and straightforward to knit. There is a touch of short-row shaping on the arms but otherwise it is simple increases and decreases. There’s no tricky colourwork either as the eye patches are sewn on separately. Add heart-shaped pads to the paws for that extra Valentine’s touch!

Top Knit Tips

Omit the hearts and this cute panda is the perfect cuddle buddy all year round!

SHORT ROW SHAPING: This technique sounds fancy but is oh-so simple to do. Just turn your work partway through the row and work back in the other direction - hence, the name, short rows. Do this for several rows to create a gentle curve in your knitted piece. When complete, some sections of the work will have more rows than others.
