Scholars believe the inspiration for what we think of as typical Fair Isle patterns, specifically the classic OXO pattern, came from the Baltic region. Following the tradition for Estonian gloves, Nancy Bush’s version features a limited color palette for the pattern stitches against a solid background. Knitted in the round with full fingers for extra warmth, they're a great way of practicing your circular knitting and colourwork techniques.
These gloves are taken from Fair Isle Style by Mary Jane Mucklestone (Interweave/F+W). Get your copy here.
