What you need to know

Discover the art of illusion knitting with Jo Allport’s magical accessory

Shadow knitting, also known as illusion knitting, is a process that creates a hidden image only visible from a certain angle, and otherwise looks like a series of narrow stripes. This effect is achieved by alternating rows of two different-coloured yarns with raised and flat stitches – the raised stitches will block out the flat stitches of another row when viewed from the right position, producing the ‘hidden’ image. Concealed within this (mainly) stocking stitch design is a dynamic diamond pattern!
