What you need to know

Take your knitting skills up a notch with Siân Brown's Fair Isle diamond yoke jumper.

It’s essential to have a comfortable go-to sweater that can be worn anywhere, particularly at Christmas. This stylish diamond-patterned jumper with elegant cable detail is perfect both for casual daytime wear and those spontaneous drinks and extended last-minute gatherings that happen throughout the festive season. It features a simple Fair Isle motif that’s a perfect introduction to this technique.

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran, shades 10 Silver, 7 (7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10) 50g balls, 04 Red, 1 (2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3) 50g balls
Needles: 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm
Cable needle
Stitch holder
Tapestry needle

Sizing


Dress Size (approx): 8 (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20)
To fit bust (cm): 82 (86, 92, 97, 102, 107, 112)
Actual bust (cm): 90 (95, 102, 107, 113, 119, 125)
Length to shoulder (cm): 54 (56, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66)

Top knit tip


The cable pattern for the sleeves is the same as for the back and front, but the number of stitches at the beginning and end of each row are different. Rows 1-4 sets the position of the Main pattern on the sleeves. As you continue to work the 32 row cable pattern ensure that your cable repeat is in the same relative position as it was on the Back and Front, taking the increases on every eighth row into account as you go.
