Slip stitch crochet cast off

For a quick and neat edge, try casting off using a crochet stitch like a slip stitch. This is also good for yarns with less elasticity. Remember to use a hook that is the same size as your knitting needles. A more decorative yet firmer edge can be created using a similar method but with double crochet stitches.

  • Slip stitch crochet cast off - Step 1

    Step 1

insert the crochet hook into the front of the first st on the needle, yoh and pull through, dropping the knitted st off the end of the LH needle

  • Slip stitch crochet cast off - Step 2

    Step 2

Rep Step 1 in next st on needle, this time pulling the yarn through both knitted st and loop on crochet hook. Rep to end and fasten off.
