The contrasting black and colour sections of Lesley Arnold-Hopkins' fabulous matching beret and fingerless gloves set, resemble light pouring through the coloured panels of a stained glass window. The colour choices are up to you – simply follow our instructions for how to create a ‘magic ball’ of all your leftover yarns and make a truly unique piece. Alternatively you could use a self-patterning DK yarn of your choice.

Needles: 4mm circular 40cm, set of 4mm double pointed
Stitch markers: six (five the same and one different if possible)

MITTENS
Yarn: (A) Black DK weight yarn, one 50g (150m) ball, (B) assorted DK weight yarns joined into a ‘magic ball’ (see Knit wise), one 25g (75m) ball
Needles: 3.25mm, 4mm
