What you need to know
Knit a delicate lace shawl by Anniken Allis with our pattern download and how-to guide
Candace is a luxurious shawl knitted in a beautiful silk and wool laceweight (2ply) yarn. You can either follow the written pattern or the chart instructions – we recommend the latter as it's much easier to keep your place. The instructions between the asterisks of the written pattern correspond exactly to the relevant chart, making it possible to begin working from the written pattern and continue to follow the chart once you've got used to it. This knitting pattern download also includes a step-by-step photo guide on how to knit your essential lace stitches. Top knit tip
If working from the charts, remember that all rows are worked from right to left. Refer to the Chart instructions to see how the three charts fit into the overall pattern. Note that the charts themselves don't show WS rows or the two edge stitches at either end of the row and are each repeated twice across the row with a k1 in the centre. Once you come to the Main section, work the 26 rows of the chart six times, with one extra repeat of the boxed section each time. When working the Border chart, the chart is worked twice across the row and the boxed section repeated 14 times each time, so 28 times in total. Don't forget that on each chart the final row is a WS row and therefore not shown.
