What you need to know

Charmaine Fletcher's hexagon patchwork stocking pattern is both quick and simple to knit this Christmas.

This jolly Christmas knit is sure to be treasured by generations to come. We love the neat geometric shapes, decorated with festive foliage from holly to mistletoe. Here's a handy video from The Crafts Channel showing you how to make your hexagons. Designer Charmaine gives detailed instructions to ensure a pro-finish. Adding a complementary fabric lining will hide the wrong side of your knitting and make it easier to get those pressies in and out!

Top knit tips

Charmaine uses dpns as straight needles as they are easier for small items and can be used for i-cord. The hexagons, as shown, are laid out with points at the top and bottom with flat sides meeting vertically. It is easier to join into rows first, then join the rows.
