    Cuff
    Using the long tail cast on method, loosely cast on 62sts
    ? Rearrange the stitches on the needles as folls: Needle 1: 15sts (first stitches cast on); Needle 2: 15sts; Needle 3: 16sts; Needle 4: 16sts
    ? Work foll the cuff chart (see page 24) starting with round 1 and ending with round 30

    Heel flap
    Prepare for the heel flap as foll:
    ? Needle 1: k3, bring yarn to the front between the needles, sl the next st purlwise from Needle 1 and turn
    ? Slip the stitches from Needle 4 and 12sts from Needle 3 onto the needle with the four sts worked from Needle 1. 32sts
    ? Slip the remaining sts on Needle 3 onto Needle 2 Work foll the heel chart noting that it starts with a wrong side row from the left

    Turning the heel
    ? Row 33: k1, p16, p2tog, p1. Turn

    Gusset
    Using a spare needle pick up 16sts down the left side of the heel working through both of the loops for each chain edge st, then pick up one st at the base of the heel and one st under the first stitch of the instep

    ? With a new needle, knit across the instep stitches that form the lace pattern on top of the foot on Needle 2 and then 3
    ? With a new needle, pick up one st under the first stitch of the instep and 1st at the base of the heel before the chain edge. Pick up 16sts up the right side of the heel, working through both of the loops for each chain edge st
