What you need to know

Jacinta Bowie’s sweater pattern will see you master how to knit twisted stitch cables.

The modest trapeze shape and soft yarn add a fun swish, and a welcome bit of room, just where you need it! It’s designed in a lightweight aran with a simple raglan construction where the front and back are alike – just make two, and then two sleeves. All of these pieces are placed on holders to be joined together to form the neck to then work the collar. Whether you’re feeling smart or casual, it’s tempting to reach for this comfy classy top every time.

Top knit tips

These angled edges are best sewn up in the following order. Start with the collar, then sew its nearest sleeve shoulder seam to its front shoulder seam. Next, join the back seams on the same side. Repeat in the same order for the other side. Carry on by joining the right side seam and right sleeve seam as one continuous seam, starting at the wrist and finishing at the waist – or vice versa – and repeat for the other side.

By keeping the cable pattern between the stitch markers, and reverse stocking stitch to the sides, you'll be able to maintain the continuity as set while working the shaping.
