What you need to know

Create a charming autumn door decoration with this woodland-themed pattern.

Nicola Valiji's autumn wreath is a make you'll be proud to display on the front of your house. The basic wreath would work for all seasons but it's a great way to showcase some of your favourite autumnal things, from colourful toadstools to adorable animals such as hedgehogs and mice. The individual elements could also be used as stand-alone mini knits or embellishments for other projects.

Top knit tip

To make the i-cord used for the leaf stems, first cast your stitches onto one double-pointed needle. Using a second double-pointed needle, knit the first row, but do not turn. Instead, slide the stitches to the opposite end of the needle. Pull the yarn across the back of the work so you’re ready to knit the next row. Keep doing this until the i-cord is the right length.
