Beginner Kids’ Sausage Dog Scarf Knitting Pattern

Beginner Kids’ Sausage Dog Scarf

Designer: Nicola Valiji

Download Pattern

Nicola Valiji's dachshund scarf project is suitable for beginner knitters.

Who said winter warmers can’t be fun! Inspired by the sausage dog, this scarf will keep your little one cosy, whilst giving them something to smile about. Alternatively, if you know an adult dog lover who would appreciate a novelty Christmas gift, just keep working the scarf section until you are happy with the length.

What do I need?

Yarn: Deramores Studio DK, shades Gingerbread, two 100g balls, Raspberry, one 100g ball
Needles: 4mm, 4.5mm
Tapestry needle
Safety toy stuffing
Safety toy eyes
Safety toy nose

Top knit tips

In order to successfully stuff your sausage dog, it is essential that you tease out your stuffing beforehand. This will prevent unsightly lumps and bumps. Another tip is to take your time. You need to strike the perfect balance between over and under stuffing your project, so don’t be afraid to start again if your scarf doesn’t sit right.

If you are worried about using toy eyes for this project, another option is to embroider the dog’s features.
