Award-winning designs to celebrate this fantastic fibre!
There’s year’s Wool Week runs from the 5th-18th October so there is still time to enjoy the yearly celebration of this versatile fibre. Long loved by knitters, wool is a sustainable, renewable and biodegradable fibre choice and each year, the Campaign for Wool showcases its fantastic qualities with a series of events. Part of the celebration is the Student Design Competition, which this year was a global event.
Students from universities across the UK as well as in New Zealand, Canada and South Africa took up the challenge to come up with an innovative and exciting product made from wool. Top name brands from the clothing and interiors industries set special categories, including capsule tailoring (Marks and Spencer), socks using recycled fibres (Finisterre), and a British heritage-inspired jumper (Brora). Celtic & Co asked students to create a relaxed-comfort jumper while jacquard was requested by knitwear fashion house John Smedley.
