Special Preview: DesignEtte’s Brand New Collection!

We take a look at Camilla Ette Gotfredsen’s exciting new pattern collection for DesignEtte

With the autumn season soon upon us, we’re looking forward to knitting ourselves a whole new wardrobe of stylish garments. Camilla Ette Gotfredsen is the creative force behind Danish knitting brand DesignEtte and has given us a special sneak peek at her latest patterns!

The collection is called African Spirits and the inspiration is clear to see. “I went on a holiday to South Africa to visit a good friend and designer,” explains Camilla. “Whilst there, I was shown all the beautiful beaded patterns of the South West African Tribes and I fell in love with them all. I simply had to design a collection using my own craft as the tool to show the beauty of the patterns.”

Camilla’s inspiration came from African beadwork

You’ll find striking colourwork designs for knitting and crochet, although the garments are mostly knitted. Camilla’s favourite pattern is the Pedi Off The Shoulder Sweater. She tells us: “I like the lightness and volume of the garment and the ‘marble look’ that appeared in the white when red was used as colourwork. I also love the style of the collar.”

DesignEtte specialises in natural fibre yarns and many of the new season designs are made using one strand of Andrea di Bonaiuto, a blend of silk and super kid mohair, held together with Naturino merino wool or Naturino Green Line, made from organic Shetland wool.

The brand also stocks its own range of Czech beads which are used throughout the collection. Knitting kits for the design will be launching soon on Amazon and the company’s own website. For the full range of yarns, patterns and kits, visit designette.co.uk
