Our favourite projects – September 2014

We’re proud of all the patterns we publish in Let’s Knit, but every time there’s a new issue, we each can’t help but have our favourites. Find out what the team is most excited to make from the September issue!

Adrienne Chandler, deputy editor:

I just love Tick Tock, Jane Burns’ quirky clock. It’s so simple to make but looks so effective and it’s a brilliant way to add that knitty touch to your decor. This one is actually made using household string, which is perfect for creating that rustic charm. You could use all sorts of yarn to suit the different rooms of the house – a vibrant variegated yarn would work perfectly for a playroom or nursery!

Amy Adams, editorial assistant:

I just can’t get enough of Anniken’s latest sweater – so much so that this weekend I managed to knit the first half of the back! I love the twist on an old-school cable pattern, and the fisherman’s rib in between not only produces a beautiful effect, but also a very squishy, cosy one! The pattern is easy to memorise but interesting enough to keep you engaged as you’re knitting. I can’t wait to finish it off in time for the cooler weather!

Katie Wilding, editorial assistant:

When you look around the office at LK, everbody’s desk says something about them. They’re all crafty – they have that much in common – but everyone has made them their own somehow. My desk, decorated with a sombrero-wearing cactus called Rodrigo, lots of handmade pompoms and a super chunky knitted coaster, is always tidy. When I first saw Hot Desk by Jane Burns, I knew I’d be making it myself to make my super-organised desk cute and cosy!

Why I chose our cover project…

Sarah Neal, editor:

Karie Westermann’s cute Fair Isle hat and mittens set perfectly captured the change of season for our September issue, especially as we’re convinced this will be the year of the bobble hat!The colours are subtle and wearable but still eye-catching enough to make a stunning cover shot.
