You may have tried French knitting when you were growing up, but did you know that larger looms can be used to create hats, scarves and pretty boot toppers?
KnitUK’s new knitting looms are surprisingly easy to use, even if you’ve never seen one before! The idea is simple. Just wrap your yarn around the loom’s pegs for two rounds, and then use the hook provided to lift the first loop over the second - this creates your first stitch. Once you have done this for each peg, begin wrapping the yarn again for a second round, and lift the first stitch over the new.
Repeating this process creates rounds of knitting which can quickly grow into a hat, cowl, or boot topper – anything you can think of with a simple tube of knitting! This easy method is particularly helpful for those who suffer from aching wrists when holding long needles full of stitches.
The looms also come with extra pegs which can be inserted for use with finer DK and aran yarns.
Of course, it’s not just circular knitting. The set of four new looms from KnitUK also comes with a long loom which can be used to knit flat pieces such as scarves. You can even try S-Looms to knit larger items such as jumpers and afghans!
The brand new set of four looms, which includes three circular sizes and one long loom, costs £15.50 – but you can get it for just £13.18 during the run up to Mother’s Day! The set also comes complete with full instructions and diagrams.
