The Knit & Stitch It show is back this year! Running 26th - 27th February, the show is set to be bigger and better than ever. We had a chat with the organisers to get the low down on what this year’s show has to offer…
Welcome back, Knit & Stitch It. You’ve been running your annual show since 2004, how excited are you for 2016’s show?
Since we launched Make it in 2004 we have evolved the event to meet the changing needs of our visitors. Now both Make it and Knit&Stitch it are firmly established and more popular than ever. This is mainly, I believe, because every year we focus on creating a not to be missed celebration of crafting - all under one roof.
What will make 2016’s Make it and Knit It & Stitch a must attend event for crafters?
The unique of appeal of these two shows for visitors is the vast amount of demonstrations and FREE make n’ take sessions. The varied workshop programme is also a big pull. Add this to the spacious shopping aisles, freedom of movement for disabled visitors, free admission for accompanied children (U16’s) and convenient free parking for all, the shows offer crafting enthusiasts an irresistible opportunity for a great day out.
What made you decide to combine both ‘Knit & Stitch It’ with ‘Make It’ for the first time?
Essentially we responded to visitor and exhibitor demand. Many of our visitors are keen all round crafters and love knitting and stitching as much as papercraft and beading and the like. Our aim for Make it has always been to create an inspirational and action packed environment for crafters. In 2016 by holding the shows over the two most popular days, Friday and Saturday, we can ensure the two events are brimming with new and innovative products and an unrivalled range of different crafts. Essentially, visitors will benefit from extended opening hours so they have time to take in all the craft demonstrations, make n’ takes, buying opportunities and workshop slots.
Are you hoping people will take advantage of the two-value ticket option and perhaps experience the other side of crafting they may not usually dabble in?
We know many of our visitors like to visit for more than one day so they can make sure they get to see every aspect of the events. We are really excited about offering our visitors the opportunity to visit both shows and experience crafting techniques that might be new to them. The show appeals to all level of crafting from beginner to advanced so there will be something for everyone to try out.
How many exhibitors can revellers expect to browse over the weekend extravaganza?
The 2016 edition of Make it and Knit & Stitch it boasts over 100 exhibitors all offering individual expertise in their respective crafts and specialities.
What sorts of craft demonstrations and knitty expertise will be on offer?
Throughout the event, visitors will be greeted by an array of traditional crafts including paper craft, decoupage, card making and design, scrapbooking, beading, jewellery making, silk printing and stamping. On the knitty side of things there will be a host of knitting techniques to learn, sewing, quilting and embroidery too.
