Us crafters LOVE to be around like-minded people and we are in our element at big crafty events. So we sat down with the folks behind the Great British Craft Festival to find out more about this great event…
How long has the festival been running for and what is the date and location?
The festival started in 2012, so we’re now on our 5th year and it’s better than ever! There are two festivals this year - the 4th and 5th of June at Bolton Arena, Greater Manchester and 1st and 2nd of October in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire. Each festival runs over a weekend and the extremely popular VIP workshops are on the Friday.
What can crafters expect to experience at the festival?
There will be a fantastic variety of exhibitors at the show selling all manner of wonderful craft items. From haberdashery, papercraft, MDF, dies, beads, buttons, you name it! Some great stands include Pinflair, Tattered Lace, Chloe’s Creative Cards and, of course, Hunkydory Crafts. The atmosphere is always so fun and creative so people can expect to have a great time exploring the stands and talking to like-minded crafters. There is also going to be a FREE Papercraft Kit for every attendee worth £4.99, as well as offers galore.
Could you tell us a little more about your VIP workshops?
The workshops enable you to learn some fantastic techniques from experienced crafters and in turn take away some amazing projects. There will be a great variety of workshops, from fabric to MDF, and card-making to mixed media! The lovely and talented crafters on hand to guide you through the projects include Sarah McCrossan, Princess Pinflair Christine Bell, and one of our very own experts from Hunkydory Crafts. Crafters always have so much fun at the workshops, as they learn fantastic new skills and can socialise with people who love crafts as much as they do! And getting a VIP ticket gives you entry to the festival all weekend, a great £50 goodie bag and lunch on the day of the workshop, so it’s fantastic value for money.
How has the festival grown since the first year it was launched?
When the festival had its first and second year, it was only held in one location in the Midlands, but since 2013 we have managed to make it bigger and better by expanding it to two locations, so now there is the North Festival at Bolton Arena in Greater Manchester, and the Midlands Festival at the fantastic Stoneleigh Park venue.
Where can crafters find out further information and book tickets?
