Go on, put the kettle on and join in Traidcraft’s Big Brew this February, which hopes to help make a difference to the lives of smallholder farmers in Bangladesh – using the power of tea.
Traidcraft is a founding member of the Fairtrade Foundation, and they are encouraging crafters to hold their own Big Brew tea party during Fairtrade fortnight (24 February – 9 March), complete with handknitted vintage cosies and coasters.
Whether you decide to have a simple cuppa with friends, or hold a carnival for your entire community, you can easily download information packs which include patterns for vintage teacosies, coasters and mug hugs. Whether you sell them or just serve tea in them, the adorable patterns are sure to bring warmth to your event.
Funds raised from the Big Brew all go towards helping transform the lives of workers in Bangladesh, by helping to diversify their crops and learn new skills. It also works to empower them to demand their rights to a fair price, wage and working conditions.
You can download Big Brew resource packs, which contain posters, invites, craft ideas and more. Just go to www.traidcraft.co.uk/big-brew or call 01914 976488.
