Brighten up the cold, dark evenings this month by supporting our February Charity of the Month, the Jerry Green Dog Rescue, and knit jumpers and blankets to provide warmth for the unfortunate puppies and dogs in their care.
Founded in 1961, the Jerry Green Dog Rescue is now one of the UK’s leading dog rescue charities. However, they receive no funding and so rely entirely on donations and the generosity of everyday corporate sponsors and everyday people like us knitters.
The rescue cares for over 160 unfortunate canines and during these harsh winter months, and some of the puppies, older dogs and short-haired breeds struggle to keep themselves warm.
“We take our dogs out for walks every day and like to make their kennels as comfortable as possible. But in the cold weather some of our dogs do really feel the cold, so simple things jumpers, snoods, blankets and toys can make a big difference,” said Catherine Foster, Head of Fundraising at Jerry Green Dog Rescue.
So this February, why not knit something cosy for a pooch to keep them warm while they patiently wait for a forever home? Your lovingly made knitted items can either be delivered in person or posted to any of the five centres at the following addresses:
