Put your knitting needles to good use this winter and join The People’s Friend magazine and Knit For Peace in helping vulnerable people stay warm this winter
High fuel bills and the cost-of-living crisis means that more people than ever will struggle to stay warm in winter.
The Love Darg is The People’s Friend magazine’s charitable appeal. Its name comes from an old Scots phrase meaning “work done for love”. In 2022 The Love Darg supported Knit for Peace by asking knitters and crocheters to create dressing gowns or ponchos out of squares.
The handmade items were sent to Knit for Peace to distribute to vulnerable people throughout the UK and abroad, who then had a new colourful garment to keep them cosy over the colder months.
The clever pattern by Knit for Peace uses large squares which are folded and sewn together to make a complete dressing gown, meaning that knitters of all abilities could take part.
So, where does Let’s Knit Together come in? In 2022 as part of our charity campaign, we hosted two amazing Knit for Peace patterns so our members could get involved in this fantastic campaign. We also donated 5% of all annual sign-ups in November and December to Knit For Peace
