What you need to know
Sachiyo Ishii’s aardvark pattern is both fun and simple to knit.
Aardvarks are native to Africa so it’s no surprise Perry the Aardvark needs a sweater for the British summertime. The self-patterning yarn makes it a truly snazzy garment for this aardvark toy. He is simple to knit with basic decreases used to shape the body. The jumper is worked in a 4ply yarn and has a back opening that is fastened with a popper – so you could make a whole wardrobe of stylish sweaters for Perry!

Top knit tips
Although you are asked to use double-pointed needles for the jumper, you are not actually knitting in the round, but they will make it easier for you to pick up the stitches for the neckband and the sleeves.
Many toy patterns use smaller needles than recommended on the yarn ball band to create a tighter fabric and prevent the stuffing showing through.
