What you need to know
Designer Kim McBrien Evans will help you master the art of intarsia while crafting this custom-size cardi.
Taken from The Knitter's Sweater Fitting Bible (David & Charles), this cardigan is all about the unexpected ways colour and pattern can play together. The colourwork takes its inspiration from the Plaidypus stitch pattern, using the numbers 1, 2, and 3 as the building blocks for a playful, graphic design. The structured yoke pattern shifts between repeats due to the increases. And then comes the magic: as the colourwork moves down the body, the structure gives way to randomly placed rectangles, creating a spontaneous patchwork of colour.
