What you need to know

No oven needed – just your hook, yarn and a slice of crochet scone perfection.

Put the kettle on and get your hook ready for a proper crochet tea-time treat! This Devon scone design is packed with clever amigurumi techniques, from building a rounded shape with a magic ring and increases to creating texture with back-loop stitches and neat decreases. Layered with a fluffy cream topping, a fruity jam centre and finished with sweet little French knot details, this project is the perfect recipe for a cosy afternoon of crafting. Best of all, there’s no baking required – just plenty of yarny goodness!

Meet the designer

If you visited the Chelsea Flower Show in 2026, you may have spotted an array of delicious-looking crochet cakes on the display by Hare Spring Cottage Plants. They were made by Sue Brooks from A Little Bit Crafty, a family-run yarn and crafts shop based in Kingsbridge, Devon. We’re delighted to be featuring these mouth-watering patterns on letsknit.co.uk for you to download, and you can find the full collection on A Little Bit Crafty's designer page. Bon appétit!
