Issue 10

Buddy Socks - Socks Rock booklet (page 40)

The following section is missing from the pattern. It comes directly after the 'Pick Up For Instep' Section:

Shape Instep
Round 1 Knit to 3 sts before first marker, k2tog, k1 (marker), knit to next marker (marker), k1, ssk2tog, knit to end. 40 (46:50:56) sts
Round 2 Knit
Rep these two rounds until 32 (36:40:44) sts remain

Cotty Flops (page 71)

We miscalculated slightly in the sole pattern - the stitch count of 22 (24) sts at the bottom of the first column is right, but to get to that you only need to repeat rows 1 and 2 three (four) times more. To be honest though, the pattern is very adaptable and meant as more of a guide, so if it wasn't followed to the letter it wouldn't really hurt. We had samples in all different shapes and sizes!

We did have a query about the tension but we can't find a problem with this to be honest. Again, if your tension is slightly off it probably won't make a huge amount of difference.

Here is a tip - when knitting the upper section you will probably find it easier if your dpns are on the long side. There are more stitches than you would have for a sock and the yarn is quite slippery, so the longer your dpns the less likely you are to lose stitches off the ends! Failing that some point protectors should do the trick.

Lacy days (Socks Rock booklet) (page 26)

We had a number of people contact us about problems with this pattern and we had to refer back to the publisher of the book it came from, Easy Knitted Socks by Jeanette Trotman, for an answer. However, we are very grateful to Mrs Wellstead who in the meantime worked out what the corrected version should be. Having knitted her second sock perfectly Mrs Wellstead can confirm that her amendments are correct and the rest of the pattern is fine!
Here are the corrections (in bold):

LACE PANELS
Row 15: K6, *k2tog, yfwd, k4, yfwd, k2tog tbl, k6, k2tog, yfwd, k1, k2tog, k7, k2tog tbl, k2tog, yfwd, k4, yfwd, k2tog tbl, k6, k2tog, yfwd, knit to end (56 sts)

HEEL - FIRST SIDE
Row 4: this should be Row 3
Row 35: k21, k2tog, yfwd, k6, k2tog, yfwd, k to end

Candy Wave (page 64)

Please note the Knit Kit is missing from this pattern:
Needles: 2.5mm double pointed needles, set of four
Yarn: Schoppel Sock Yarn (A) shade 1746 intarsia, (B) shade 980 natural, 100g of each
Stitch marker

Also, in the tension square, the size of needles is stated as 3mm when it should be 2.5mm
