Welcome to part one of our exciting four-part series, where you'll be making a rainbow patchwork blanket. Created by Zoë Potrac and Nicola Valiji, this colourful throw combines knitting and crochet in one joyful make. In each instalment, you'll receive patterns for both knitted squares and crochet squares, allowing you to create a vibrant patchwork blanket alongside a crafty friend – or make the whole project yourself. This first part introduces three textured square designs: Open Check, Ridged Rib and Bramble, with instructions to make two of each.
Sizing
All squares: 20cm x 20cm
12-square blanket: 66cm x 86cm
24 square blanket: 86cm x 126cm
What you'll need
DK yarn: 24 assorted shades in your chosen colours
Knitting needles: 4mm
Crochet hook: 4mm
Tapestry needle
NOTE: this is all the yarn and equipment needed for every part of the knitalong.
Meet the designers
Nicola Valiji is a long-standing Let's Knit Together designer who first discovered her love of knitting while making a Jean Greenhowe doll with her nan. Joining her on this project is Zoë Potrac, an accomplished crochet designer whose innovative garment and homeware patterns have appeared in leading crochet publications across the UK.
