What you need to know

Let’s take a look at the essentials in intarsia colourwork technique

This method is used for creating picture knits or working blocks of colour, as opposed to the detailed patterning of stranded designs. Each colour section on your pattern is worked using a separate ball of yarn. These are held on the wrong side of the work. To avoid getting in a tangle, it helps to wind smaller bobbins of your different shades. This technique is useful for when several colours are used in one row; you do not have to strand the yarns across the back of the work, so only have a single thickness fabric.
