What you need to know

Celebrate the fourth of July with Val Pierce's eagle knitting pattern.

Designer Val Pierce’s majestic mascot will have everyone starry-eyed! As you can imagine, this eagle toy is created from a number of pieces, but it’s all essentially stocking stitch or garter stitch. The bow and hat are optional extras, and a glue gun makes assembling the hat easier.

What do I need?

Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK, 1002 Black, 1001 White, 100g of each, 1856 Dandelion, 1010 Matador, 1831 Lapis, 25g of each
Needles: 3.75mm
Felt: black, white, scraps
Safety toy stuffing
Stiff card (for hat, min): 17cm x 23cm
Star buttons: ten, 10mm
Glue gun
Tapestry needle

Sizing

Eagle: 35cm tall
Hat: 8cm high

Top knit tip

You can appliqué the eyes with small stitches using a sewing needle and matching thread if you don’t have a glue gun.
