What you need to know

Val Pierce's classic teddy bear toy comes with a bag that doubles up as a bed.

Sure to become a firm favourite, our classic teddy bear toy is easy to knit and comes with a pretty pink and white outfit. When our bear is sleepy, simply tuck them into this charming patchwork bed which can be folded up to produce a handy bag. The decorative daisy pattern on the bed cover is added afterwards. This project does have small parts which could be a safety hazard for young children, so check out the advice included with your pattern for alternative suggestions.

What do I need?

Yarn: Patons Diploma Gold DK, shade 06187 White, shade 06158 Hollyhock, shade 06239 New Berry, shade 06123 Cyclamen, shade 06143 Natural, one 50g ball of each; oddments of green and yellow for embroidery
Needles: 3.75mm, 4mm
Toy stuffing
Ribbon: narrow velvet, one metre
Beads: black, two
Large plastic poppers, two
Small button

Sizing

Bear: approx 25cm tall

Top knit tip

This pattern has small parts as it features poppers and also beads for the eyes. If intended for a child under three years, you should embroider the eyes using black yarn and fasten the bag with sew-on Velcro.
