What you need to know

Suitable for beginner knitters, Nicola Valiji’s kite bunting is quick, fun and simple to craft.

You can enjoy all the beauty of these classic motifs from the comfort of your home without having to brace yourself against the wind with this quirky bunting! Each of the kites follow the same basic pattern with varying colour sequences. Finish off your kites with authentic tail strings, bows and tail bows, giving your makes a lovely sense of movement, as though they really are going up through the atmosphere!

What do I need?


Yarn: King Cole Cottonsoft DK, shades 1600 Buttercup, 1575 Cloud, 715 Mint, 712 Rose, 3030 Orange, 1575 Coral, one 100g ball of each
Needles: 4mm
Tapestry needle

Kite without tail: 16cm
Kite including tail: 34cm
Bunting length: 128cm

Top knit tips


This bunting would look great in a nursery. Why not hang it from a shelf edge or across the front of a stroller or pram to entertain the baby?

Pin the kites on the hanging string before sewing them into place to get the spacing correct.
