If you want to learn how to create rib stitch and how to garter stitch, download Val Pierce's crocodile scarf pattern.
When it comes to knitted critters, you can't beat Val Pierce's crocodile scarf pattern. This snappy scarf project is so detailed - check out the realistic-looking crocodile eyes and nostrils. An effective rib pattern is used to replicate the plates on a croc's back. Due to the shape of our crocodile scarf, there are lots of increases and decreases, and there's no convenient pattern repeat to get you in the groove. However, work slowly and tick off the rows as you go and you'll soon see the crocodile shape begin to form. The rib pattern is contained within a garter stitch border throughout.
