Three quick knits

Christmas is only a few weeks away and if you're still struggling for those final presents, take a look at these three quick-knit patterns. Our Kara pull-through scarf is made in a sequin yarn so will add a touch of glam to any winter outfit. Vashti is a cosy hot water bottle cover - you may want to keep it for yourself to protect against the chilly nights! Finally, our Tova socks are perfect for your yoga-loving friends!

Using 4mm needles cast on 25 sts
Row 1: k1, kfb, (p1, k1) ten times, p1, kfb, k1. 27 sts
Row 2: k1, kfb, (k1, p1) 11 times, k1, kfb, k1. 29 sts
Row 3: k1, kfb, (p1, k1) 12 times, p1, kfb, k1. 31 sts
Row 4: k1, kfb, (k1, p1) 13 times, k1, kfb, k1. 33 sts
Row 5: sl 1, k1, (p1, k1) 15 times, k1
Rep Row 5 until work meas 61cm from cast-on edge
Next row: sl 1, (k1, p1) seven times, k1, turn
Leave rem sts on a holder
Next row: sl 1, (p1, k1) seven times, k1
Next row: sl 1, (k1, p1) seven times, k1
Rep last two rows 25 times
Cut yarn and transfer sts just worked to holder

Short side
Using 3.25mm needles cast on 32 sts
Row 1 (RS): (k1, p1) to end
Rows 2-6: rep Row 1 five times
Change to 4mm needles

Row 10: p **
Rep from ** to ** until work meas approximately 14cm from cast-on edge, ending with a Row 10

Keeping patt correct, work as folls:
Row 1: k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k to last three sts, k2tog, k1. 30 sts
Row 2: k2, (p1, k1) to end
Row 3: k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k to last three sts, k2tog, k1. 28 sts
Row 4: p1, p2tog, p to last three sts, p2tog tbl, p1. 26 sts
Row 5: k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k to last three sts, k2tog, k1. 24 sts
Row 6: k1, k2tog, p1, k1, rep to last three sts, p2tog, k1. 22 sts

Work as for Short side rep from ** to ** until work meas 32cm from cast-on edge

Shape top

To make up
With RS facing, stitch sloping edge at top left of Long side and top right of Short side

Cuff
Return to yarn and sts on needle
Row 1: (k1, p1) across sts on needle, then across sts on holder
This row sets rib
Work a further 31 rows in rib
Cast off
Stitch seam on ribbed cuff. For side seams, fold cast-on edge of Long side over cast-on edge of Short side so they overlap by 3.5cm at sides. With RS together sew side seams using back stitch

Yoga socks (make two)
Using 3.25mm needles and yarn B cast on 48 sts
Row 1 (RS): (k1, p1) to end
This row sets rib
Rep Row 1 three times
Cut yarn B, join in yarn A
Rep Row 1 five times more
Change to 4mm needles
Rep Row 1 a further 30 times

Divide for heel opening
Rows 1-2: cast off 12 sts, rib to end
Rows 3-4: cast on 12 sts, rib to end
Continue in rib for 30 rows
Cut yarn A and rejoin yarn B
Work a further four rows in rib
Cast off

To make up
Fold each foot warmer in half lengthways. With RS together, sew seams using back stitch, leaving heel openings unstitched
