Backstitch

This gives a thicker join on the WS than mattress stitch but is quick and strong, making it ideal for toys

  • Backstitch - Step 1

    Step 1

hold the two panels to be stitched with RS together. Line up the seams to ensure you have a straight edge. Make a small stitch to secure the edges then bring the needle through the fabric from back to front approx 1cm from the edge. Re-insert the needle close to the edge stitch.

  • Backstitch - Step 2

    Step 2

bring the needle back through to the front of the fabric approx 1cm from the initial entry point of the first stitch. Reinsert the needle close to the first stitch. Repeat this all along the seam.
