Polar Express
Say "hello" to Klaus! Our friendly polar bear from Susie Johns would be an ideal Christmas gift for the kids
Complete with scarf and shiny silver fish, Klaus is a brilliant make for the winter season. When standing upright he’s impressively tall and is knitted in stocking stitch, which gives a smooth finish. He involves a lot of shaping so this pattern may be more of a challenge for beginners to toy knitting but is well worth it in the end.

Shaping up!
This pattern requires two types of increases and it’s important to use the right one at the right time to ensure you have an accurate stitch count and your shaping looks correct. The first one you encounter is kfb where you knit into the front and back of the same stitch. To do this, knit the stitch as normal, but don’t slip it off the zthe back loop of the original stitch. Knit this, then slip the stitch off the LH needle. The second type of increase is a Make One. Use the LH needle to lift up the horizontal bar between the stitches and knit into the back of this loop. Knitting into the front will leave a hole. When you’re just instructed to increase, use kfb.
