Made from Opal's new Flower Power range, these bright and snazzy mittens give the illusion of a much more complicated knit, producing the effects of colourwork with minimum effort! With eight colours to choose from, ranging from a funky neon to subdued pastels, there's a shade to suit every taste!
Yarn: Opal Flower Power Sock Yarn, shade 5911, one 100g ball

Left Glove
Using 2.75mm needles, cast on 54 sts
- Row 1: (k1, p1) to end
- Row 2-20: as Row 1
- Rows 21-26: work in st st
Shape thumb
- Row 27: k22, kfb, k2, kfb, k28. 56 sts
- Starting with a p row work three rows in st st
- Row 31: k22, kfb, k4, kfb, k28. 58 sts
- Starting with a p row work three rows in st st
- Row 35: k22, kfb, k6, kfb, k28. 60 sts
- Starting with a p row work three rows in st st
- Row 39: k22, kfb, k8, kfb, k28. 62 sts
- Starting with a p row work three rows in st st
- Row 43: k22, kfb, k10, kfb, k28. 64 sts
- Starting with a p row work three rows in st st

Thumb
- Row 1: k40, turn, cast on two sts
- Row 2: p20, turn, cast on two sts
- Row 3: k22
- Rows 4-11: starting with a p row and working on these 22 sts only, work eight rows in st st
- Row 12: k22
- Cast off, leaving a 30cm tail of yarn
- Seam the two side edges of the thumb together
Top of hand
- With RS facing, pick up and k six sts across base of thumb, k to end. 56 sts
- Starting with a p row work 13 rows in st st
Index finger
- Row 1: k36, turn, cast on one st
- Row 2: p17, turn, cast on one st
- Row 3: k18
- Rows 4-7: starting with a p row and working on these 18 sts only, work four rows in st st
- Row 8: k18
- Cast off, seam the side edges
Middle finger
- Row 1: with RS facing, pick up and k the two cast on sts at base of index finger, k7 from LH needle, turn, cast on one st
- Rows 2-8: work as for index finger
- Cast off, seam side edges
Ring finger
- Row 1: with RS facing, pick up and k up the two cast on sts at base of middle finger, k7 from LH needle, turn, cast on one st
- Rows 2 -8: work as for index finger
Little finger
- Row 1: with RS facing, pick up and k four sts across base of ring finger, k6
- Starting with a p row and working on these 16 sts only, work six rows in st st
- Row 8: k16
- Cast off
- Join side seam
Right Glove
Using 2.75mm needles, cast on 54 sts
- Row 1: (k1, p1) to end
- Row 2-20: as Row 1

Fit like a glove!
For the perfect finish to these attention-grabbing gloves, use a larger size needle when knitting the final two rows of each thumb and finger and when casting off. This will ensure a comfortable fit and avoid stretching the yarn!
