Brill Frills
Brighten up a winter outfit with Delores, our refined scarf by Susie Johns
Delores, this beautiful scarf by Susie Johns, features unusual ruffles and elegant cord ties. It's perfect for wearing indoors over a sweater or can be used to soften the neckline of a jacket or coat whilst keeping you snuggly at the same time. The frilled effect is produced by rows of regular increases to create a fluted effect, incorporating a few rows of eyelet lace and then finished with a narrow border in a contrasting colour. The ties are finished with cone-shaped spiral end pieces in the same lacy pattern.
Yarn: Sirdar Balmoral Wool
Alpaca Silk DK, (A) shade 0477 Taffeta, (B) shade 0478 Wedgwood, one 50g ball of each
Needles: 4mm circular; 4mm double-pointed, two
About the yarn
Sirdar Balmoral Wool Alpaca Silk DK is a luxurious, all-natural blend of 72% wool, 25% alpaca and 3% silk which is soft to the touch with a lovely drape. Choose from 15 classic shades. It should be washed by hand.
Need an alternative?
Made of 100% wool, Rowan Purelife Organic Wool DK knits up to a similar tension and features the same subtly mottled look of the featured yarn due to the natural dyes used. Choose blue shades 608 Logwood and 609 Indigo to match Delores’ colourways.

kfb explained
This pattern uses the kfb method of increasing throughout. To work this increase, knit into the stitch as normal but leave it on the LH needle. Bring the tip of the RH needle around to the back, knit into the back loop of the same stitch and slip it off the needle. This method is also sometimes known as a bar increase as it leaves a small bar at the base of the second stitch.
