Top knit tips

Shaping the face and muzzle is tricky: you will need to stitch and shape the skin folds as you work. Pin them first to help create the right effect – and look at a photograph of a pug for inspiration.

If Doug the pug is likely to endure some rough and tumble playtimes with younger pups, there are a few safety points to consider. First, make sure all the parts are sewn together really securely. He has safety eyes, but for really small children, embroider the eyes instead. The eyelash yarn may shed, so if you want to be extra safe, swap yarn E for a smooth yarn.
