Top knit tip

Cut three strands of yarn to the same length then fold them in half. Loop the strands round so there is a knot at one end and a loop at the other. Hold the loop in place on a steady surface using a pin or a handy hook. Take a pencil and thread it between the lengths just before the knot. Twist your pencil until the lengths become tight. Fold the lengths in half and allow the cord to twist round on itself. Being careful not to let the lengths lose their twist, tie a knot at each end of the cord.
