We catch up with Camilla Ette Gotfredsen to find out more about yarn and pattern company Design Ette

What’s the story behind how DesignEtte was launched?
I was in my late 30s when I decided to change direction in my working life. I used to be a special education teacher and decided to use my skills as a knitwear designer instead. By becoming the designer of DesignEtte I saw the possibility to teach knitting and crochet skills to others and create at the same time.

What can crafters expect when knitting and crocheting with your yarns?
When you work with DesignEtte’s yarns you will have the feeling of luxury, both in the softness of the yarn and the good stitch definition you achieve. It is our goal for every single design to be wonderful to wear and we try hard to avoid any itchy materials. DesignEtte employs environmental sustainability in our production processes because we care for the world of tomorrow. The yarn collection includes pure wool, silk and cotton as well as blended variations.

Who or what inspires your designs?
I get inspired and find new ideas almost everywhere, and then I often mix and match them. But I must say that the yarns inspire me most, I aim to get the best out of any given fibre. Because of this, I find it important to be able to offer as many different yarns to our costumer as possible. I treasure knitting and crochet as a way to express art and just love to be in the process of creating.

Tell us more about your range of kits!
You’ll find everything you need for your knitting or crochet project in DesignEtte’s kits. Each one is packed in a wonderful box and comes with enough yarn for your selected size, carefully wrapped in black tissue paper. You will also find a booklet from DesignEtte, which includes your pattern, as well as a selection of other contemporary patterns that vary in skill levels and sizes from XS to 3XL. These patterns are all designed to give you the optimal fit. Lastly, there’s a small cellophane bag containing a DesignEtte logo to sew on to your finished knitted garment and any buttons or extras needed for your style.
