Tickets To An Inspiring Knitting Show!

Tickets for The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London are on sale now with new extended opening hours to enjoy the sights.

The autumn show is the biggest textile event in the UK and runs from 10th-13th October 2019 from 9.30am to 6pm most days (5pm on Sunday). More than 30,000 visitors come to Alexandra Palace every year to learn new skills, be inspired by leading textile tutors and experts, view spectacular galleries by leading contemporary textile artists, meet the next generation of textile talent, top up their knit and stitch supplies and mingle with like-minded crafters.

Show highlights at Alexandra Palace this year include: The Learning Curve programme featuring over 250 workshops and talks by top textile tutors and artists; a dedicated Dressmaking Studio (sponsored by Vlieseline Freudenberg) offering beginner to expert-level classes; free craft demonstrations in The Creative Living Theatre; Knitworking drop-in knitting and crochet lessons with volunteers from UK Hand Knitting (sponsored by Stylecraft); Artists in Action, where practising artists will be demonstrating their techniques in a live studio environment (in association with Art Van Go); The Craft Village featuring small boutique craft companies and comfortable places to sit and relax; a Prosecco Bar in the Great Hall; and over 350 exhibitors selling essential craft supplies.

New for 2019 in Alexandra Palace’s Great Hall are daily MODE at Rowan Catwalk Shows (in association with Rowan) which celebrate modern, pared-back design with capsule pattern collections using favourite Rowan yarns.

The Knitting & Stitching Show’s curated Textile Galleries are always a talking point and this year’s headline artists are Daisy Collingridge (The House of the Unmade Bed), Georgina Bellamy (That Embroidery Girl), Jen Cable (An Ideal Woman?), Karine Jollet (Rebirth/The Body Garden), Marian Jazmik (Beyond the Surface), Sisse Fog Odgaard (#UNFINISHED) and the winner of the inaugural Vlieseline Fine Art Textiles Award, a new international juried exhibition launching at The Festival of Quilts in August. The award recognises the talents and skills of a broad community of high-calibre artists and celebrates textiles’ place amongst high art.

Other artists featured are Barbara Fuereder (Within & Without), Catherine Kaufman (Woolly Queen), Denise Watts (The Little Woman), Jacqueline James (Colour & Weave), Jean Bennet (The Nep of Life), Jo Beattie (Precious Memories), Kate Whitehead (Not from the Stork), Luisa de Santi (Magical Crochet Spells), Val Holmes (Legacy Impressions) and winners of The Festival of Quilts annual competition.  Exhibiting groups are 98 Lace (Upon Reflection), CQ London (Capital Contrasts),the Embroiderers’ Guild, the Quilters’ Guild (Forty Years) and the Royal School of Needlework.  The Graduate Showcase will profile work by the next generation of textile talent.

Free shuttle buses run to the show from Wood Green and Alexandra Palace train stations every 20-30 minutes.
