Wool Week 2015 is set to be better than ever with some fantastic events, exclusive designs and social media fun. Here’s what you need to pencil into your diary…
Sheepy videos
The Campaign for Wool has teamed up with Chris Cohen to make a four films highlighting how absolutely amazing wool is. With the names ‘No Sweat’, ‘Sheep of the Year’, Girl at the BAAA’ and ‘Braaad Pitt’, they’re sure to be a good giggle too.
Incrediwools
Highlighting the key figures of fashion, interior and textile designers using wool in their work, Incrediwools be released across social media.
Woolly Hat Day
In support of The Mission to Seafarers, it’s time to don your best woolly hat for an important cause and raise awareness and vital funds. With special pattern releases from some of the trendiest knitwear designers around, you can even knit a new one and turn some heads.
Sheep on the Row
Picture this: Savile Row, the centre of men’s luxury tailoring, full of sheep, fleece and fabric. Taking place on Monday 5th October, the street in London will be home to two sheepy themes. A flock of Exmoor Longhorns to celebrate strong wool sheep from the UK and New Zealand and a flock of merino sheep promoting the finer wools of Australia and South Africa will be roaming around along with 27 pieces of bespoke wool menswear and archives of some famous tailors.
Woolly fashion
Styled by Luke Day and shot by Nick Leary in Scotland, featuring model Devon Windosor, some woolly garments from top fashion designers have been put together in both photography and film to celebrate the love of wool in fashion, both high street and luxury.
For the sixth consecutive year, Hackett and Finisterre will be collaborating with clothmakers to celebrate wool in their ranges and produce a limited edition range of knitwear.
Woolly interiors
A wool lounge has been designed to exhibit how wool is used in interiors including flooring, fabrics and furnishings.
Paying tribute to 2015 as the Yeas of the Sheep, ‘Raise the Baa’ is a pop up exhibition highlighting the part that both sheep and the landscape play in the wool textile industry
Heals
On October 8th from 6pm, a Wool Talk within Heals will take place with a specialist panel of designer and maker based around the topic ‘Wool in the Modern Country Home: colour, pattern and texture’. Tickets are by reservation only.
