ABOUT YARN SHOP DAY

Now in its fourth year, Yarn Shop Day is a successful, industry-supported annual event that celebrates bricks-and-mortar yarn shops and actively motivates consumers to visit their local store. Part of the wider Love Your Yarn Shop campaign, Yarn Shop Day takes place this year on Saturday 6th May.
Each store that signs up is encouraged, with the help of the resources and materials provided, to host a special event on the day to draw in consumers – anything from free tea and cake to star appearances from knitting celebrities.
The campaign is heavily promoted by market-leading titles Let’s Knit, Let’s Get Crafting, Craft Business, Crafts Beautiful and Sew, and is supported by big industry names such as Debbie Bliss, Search Press, Erika Knight, Campaign for Wool and leading spinners. The event has grown year-on-year, with over 200 shops taking part in 2016, and feedback from delighted retailers includes increased footfall, boosted sales and in some cases their best day of trading ever.

Yarn Shop Day benefits from being promoted widely throughout the knitting, crochet and dedicated craft media, both in print and on social media. Consistent mentions in the regional press have also proved very effective in generating publicity for the event.

Yarn Shop Day was launched in 2014 by leading publications Let's Knit and Let's Get Crafting. The campaign enjoys premium coverage in these titles by way of dedicated features leading up to the event, and is also consistently promoted throughout the entire craft portfolio of Aceville Publications, in such market-leading titles as Crafts Beautiful and Sew, and in its trade title Craft Business.
