The right stripes

There are two main ways of working stripes and which method to choose depends on the width and frequency of each colour change.

Step 1Step 1: WIDE STRIPES

On wide bands of colour it is best to cut the yarn each time you want to introduce a new shade. Simply start knitting with the new colour at the start of the next row.

Step 2Step 2: NARROW STRIPES

If the change happens frequently over bands of just a few rows then carry the yarn up the side of the work. To switch back to a previous colour, bring the old yarn up from underneath the current yarn
