Invisible cast on

Most garments feature a ribbed cuff, so for this you want a stretchy cast on. The invisible cast on produces a neat, rounded edge.

Step 1Step 1: Using a needle two sizes larger than your main project needles and a contrast yarn, use the cable cast on method to cast on half the number of stitches required. Work three rows in k1, p1 rib. Cut the yarn, change to your main needles and join in your project yarn. Kfb into each stitch so you have the correct number of stitches.

Step 2Step 2: Work four rows, knitting the k stitches and slipping the p stitches wyif. After these rows, cont in single rib until your cuff is complete.

Step 3Step 3: Unravel the stitches in the contrast yarn and even out the stitches. Remember to press this edge carefully when making up the garment.
