What you need to know

Learn how to make a storage roll for keeping your knitting needles organised.

Siân Brown's crafty needle roll is easy to make as it uses only basic knit and purl stitches and doesn't involve any shaping. However it knits up to create a cute little accessory which will make you smile every time you reach for your needles. This project also involves a little sewing to really excite your crafty side!

What do I need?

Yarn: Rowan Purelife Revive, shade 476 Peridot, two 50g balls
Needles: 4mm
Fabric: Amy Butler Coriander in Seagreen, 40cm
Felt: 10cm x 10cm
Ricrac: 95cm

NOTE: not all of the second ball is required

Sizing

46cm wide x 38cm deep

Top knit tips

When you introduce your second ball of yarn, try to join it in at the beginning of the row, so you have a neat finish. To do this, insert your RH needle into the first stitch of the row. Lay the new yarn over the top of the tail of the first ball, then start knitting. Remember to weave in the ends to create a secure join.

You could either choose a lining fabric that is a similar colour to your yarn, or opt for a contrasting material that will look really striking.
