What you need to know
Create a chic, textured tote bag by following this easy basketweave knitting pattern.
This step-by-step knitting pattern uses basic stitches to create a chic, textured bag. Once you’ve mastered stocking stitch, you’ll be amazed how many fabulous patterns can be worked with just knit and purl stitches. This design is called basketweave as the little squares look like they’re woven. The main thing to remember is to move the yarn between the needles when changing between knitting and purling, otherwise you’ll end up with extra stitches!

Top knit tips
If you want to make a one-colour version, you’ll just need two 100g balls of this yarn.
It’s really important to be able to read your work and identify your stitches. Knitted stitches look like ‘v’ shapes and purl stitches look like little bumps. If you’re not sure if you’re on a knit or a purl section of the basketweave pattern, count your ‘v’ shapes or bumps to see if you have the right number of stitches.
