  • BETHAN PATTERN

    NOTE: thread 70 beads onto yarn B and use to work Leg chart (overleaf). When placing the beads, k foll st firmly Sock (make two)

    CUFF
    Using yarn A and cable caston method (see p89), loosely cast on 52 sts
    Arrange sts over four needles, making sure the sts are not twisted, place rnd marker at start of rnd on N1, the last needle of the rnd is N4. 13 sts on each needle

    ? Rnd 5: * k2tog, yfwd, rep from * to end

    HEEL FLAP
    Prepare for Heel flap as folls:
    ? Rnd 43: N1 and N2: k13, k2tog, k10, bring yarn fwd between needles, sl 1
    Transfer sts on N1 and N2 onto one needle. 25 sts, working on these sts:
    ? Row 1: k1, p to last st, sl 1, turn
    ? Row 2: * k1, sl 1, rep to last two sts, sl 1, bring yarn between needles to front of work, sl 1, turn
    ? Rep last two rows 11 more times


    TURNING THE HEEL
    ? Row 25: k1, p13, p2tog, p1, turn
    ? Row 26: sl 1, k4, ssk, k1, turn
    ? Row 27: sl 1, p to one st before gap in sts, p2tog, p1, turn
    ? Row 28: sl 1, k to one st before gap in sts, ssk, k1, turn
    ? Rep last two rows, inc number of sts worked before dec by one st on each row until all sts have been worked ending with a RS row. 15 sts

  • GUSSET

    ? Using a spare needle, pick up one st into base of last st, 13 sts down left side of heel working through both of the loops of each slipped edge st, then pick up two sts at base of heel and one st under first st of instep
    ? With a new needle, k across instep sts that form top of foot on N2 and N3
    ? With a new needle, pick up one st under last st of instep and two sts at base of heel before slip st, pick up 13 sts up right side of heel, working through both of the loops for each slipped edge st, one st into base of st on next needle
    ? With the same needle that picked up sts from right of heel, k15 from needle holding sts from turned heel
    ? Transfer eight sts from last needle onto spare needle, these sts are first eight sts of rnd and N1. Cont to work next needle with this needle
